I would like to know how to by pass the heater core as the copit get hot even with heater switch in the off position, some one said to put a shut off valve in the 5/8 s side of the water line, will it cause a problem with the remanding flow of antifreeze. It's a 77 with air.. Also would like to know is it possible to drop a 502 big block in how much work is involved, Any one that does the engine installation in south jesery
No bypass is needed at all. Get pipe plugs, one for the water pump heater hose connection and one for the intake manifold - two different sizes. Eliminate the hoses entirely. I did this on my 77 years ago.
I used the same shut off valve like Street Rat did and it works great.
It's very ez swapping in a BB engine. I put one in my 77. For the most part it's pretty much a bolt in, nothing high tech about it.
Upgrade the cooling system and obviously a different exhaust, along with all the BB brackets and pulleys. Good news is the stock springs, if in good shape and the stock hood works fine.
