Has anybody here put a 4L80E trans in a C3? If so what was involved in the conversion? Did the floorpan need to be cut? What about the cross member, is there an aftermarket one available for the conversion or did it have to be custom made? Are there any 4L80E's that have a standard speedo cable connection or are they all electronic? Speaking of electronics, what aftermarket computer should be used for it? Sorry for all the questions but I'd really like to put one in my '69. I don't want the 4L60E trans because it won't be strong enough to handle the engine I'm going to put it on (a supercharged 454). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: I meant to post this in the tech/performance section but it somehow got posted here in the general section. I hate posting from my phone, it always screws me over, lol. If a mod sees this post can you please move it to the tech/performance subforum for me? Thanks!

Reason: Wrong subforum
Subscribed. I plan to do this in the future when the 6.0 goes in. My understanding is that no tunnel mods are needed, especially if there is a Th400 in there now. Depending on which version you use, the cooler lines can be challenging, but doable.
I plan on doing the same thing next year, i ordered a compushift 2 controller for the transmission.
from what I found out is that it should fit without cutting, if you can get the later model, the cooling changed later on and the fittings are easier to reach.
You can buy an aftermarket crossmember for the 4l80e, do a google search and you should find it.
as for the speedo, you can change the end of the transmission so you can hook up your cable driven speedo or install an electronic to mechanic speedo box.
I am currently on holiday and don't have acces to my regular pc to get you the different links to the products but they are out there.
