Default Picture advice

Getting ready to get both cars together for picture taking and need some advice. I know I can position cars nose to nose, side by side, etc. What's the best positioning of the sun in relation to cars? Do I want it at high noon or later or earlier? Behind me or to the side? In shadow? Thanks for advice. Tom

Personally, I would think late afternoon to early evening sun, you could do part shade or full sun, your choice. That depends on the color of the car and the depth of color you want to come through the lens. Deeper colors look nicer in part shade, if you ask me. You want some light but not too much. But like I said, depends on what you're looking for out of the picture. Also, pictures before sunset and during sunset would be fun too. Get some of the sunset in the photo, shoot at a 90 degree angle to the sun if it's a colorful sunset, play around with it.

Every now and then I luck into a good shot. The first was taken about 9:00 in the morning in early January. The second was taken in late afternoon. With my silver car, a slightly overcast sky seems to be the ticket.

For a more interesting contrast, I`d put them front & rear, with the sun straight over, or slightly behind you, like this.....

early or late with the sun behind you to give you highlights and shadows to the rear. position so your shadow doesnt show in the picture. The earlier or later the better, to bright and it washes out your colors. If yo have lights you can use the sunset in the rear and shine the lights in the direction of your car to eliminate the shadows. High clouds can be a good thing to give your car more color and no shadows. Goodluck

The golden hour in photography is the hour after sunrise or before sunset. You generally want the sun behind you, but you can get some cool effects with the sun at other angles. Try a tall ladder or a second story window for elevation shots that most people don't think to do.
