I'm not certain but suspect it's what is known to industry as an "interference fit". In other words the hole in the button was pressed under great pressure on a larger/rougher metal shaft. If that is the case you might be able to remove the button without breaking it if you devise a way to pull out the shaft. If you manage such you will have to use epoxy to reassemble.

I got it off , took a 5 minute frustration break and decided to clamp the rod in a vice and proceeded to twist and pull the **** , it came off with some force, feel like I pulled a tItty muscle doing it though. Goes back on super easy

You've just described undoing an interference fit. Epoxy is your only way to reconnect.
