Garage Fire
Hey guys. I have always gotten good advice so here goes again. On July 31, 2017 I had a fire in my garage. My 71 was in the garage. I had a decent cover on it, but it didn't help much. I have extensive soot damage to the sides of the car. I have smoke and soot all over the engine and inside. Let's not forget about the rust. Everything in the garage seems to be rusting. I haven't been able to go into the garage or even really inspect the car. Tomm afternoon I will get my garage released back to me. It's been a while.
I called a local place who reconditions classics along with building and restoring them. Pretty reputable in this area. Can anyone suggest another place so I have some comparison. Also what can I expect to be affected and need attention?

This may sound odd but call some of the fire clean up companies you see advertising. Service Master is in my area.
They would probably be able to handle the interior and may know someone to handle the paint and engine detailing. It's worth a shot. Good luck!

My homeowners has been great, but my classic auto policy, a little less great. They couldn't recommend a shop and it was tough getting someone to come see it. Eventually they had some other insurance outfit come and take pics. They left the repairs and finding said repairer up to me.
Westbourgh is a tad far. I thought there was a classic corvette place somewhere in SE Mass, but I can't find anything.

Are you thinking of Ron's Restoration in Fitchburg, MA? probably one of the best.
