I'm not sure but it may be nothing. I try to start a 74 Corvette and I'm not sure if the problem was.I took it out for a spin and put gas in it at the gas station shut it off went to start to leave and started like I had a bad battery(brand new battery) turn back the key started it and it was getting nothing. I seem to push into park on automatic and that it may be not locked into park correctly ,and you turn the key and started, I got home ,then I tried a couple of times waited 15 minutes and then started up like piece of cake and then I waited a second after I shut it off and it started right back up any idea. I'm possibly answered my own question could it be that the shift in this automatic wasn't in the right location.

Might be an adjustment with the linkage issue. This may help jimshea.corvettefaq.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/01/StrgColum.

Something else to check is the adjustment on your neutral safety switch.
Your car should start in P and N if it's adjusted correctly.

The switch has slots to adjust it once you loosen the bolts marked 2.
