For fun , to be odd, stand out,
From my understanding when the movie people asked korky to build the car they wanted a one off, a really loud in your face tacky type zenith of the custom corvettes popular in the 70s
So like it or hate it ( not much middle ground ) 40 years later its likely the most well known corvette of all time.
The right hand drive was done very low tech, a sprocket and chain drive idea that went from right side to steering box on left, it caused the column to be at a hard angle with the steering wheel in your lap, people who have say it sucked to drive it,

I have always been and will remain on the "hate it" list.

I didnt see it as an attractive custom corvette as it has no flow and i like flow,
It looks tossed together to me,
Through the years i have seen that about 9 out of 10 people really hate the car,
Oddly when its on display people do gravitate to it.

Here's why.
So the driver could cruise along by the footpath and chat to girls without ( obviously! ) having to lean across the car to do so. Here in Australia, my '74 Corvette has already been converted ( by the factory! ) to LHD so that I can cruise along the ( left ) side of the road and chat to chicks on the footpath.
CAUTION!!! Must remember to look out for parked cars ahead of me.
Regards from Down Under.

But i hope and imagine your conversion was done better that the Harley chain and sprocket set up of the movie car,
On the movie car the conversion killed tilt, tele too i believe placing the steering angle close to the seat,
I dont believe i could drive the car in any comfortable way,
Be cool to hear how the gm factory converted corvettes for export, i didnt know gm did that...very sweet
Please post some dash etc pictures,

I don't think that's true, "factory right hand drive C3". They had private companies in Australia that did the conversions in order for cars to be licensed for public roads. I know they did away with that mandate some time ago so guys now no longer need to butcher old cars being imported.

I like that explanation adds to the cheese factor of the movie car, lol,

They call it left hand driving even though the steering is on the right. They mean the side of the road you drive on. Confusing but I'm sure that's what he is talking about.

Doorgunner you have me there, i dont have a clue what Sikotik means,
Crawfish,
I do love customs,
But i would not even be able to say that if you bought me that scoop for my bday i could bring myself to run it on my car, shop art maybe.
However,
I dont hate the corvette summer front clip with a bit tamer scoop treatment,

You have to consider the swirl effect with forward intakes on one side rear facing on the other, produce a near supercharger condition on induction so i would guess the scoop is worth a good 150-300 hp boost,

Gonna need a periscope to drive the car with that thing...

I totally wish they would remake that movie. Great title. So many incredible customizers out there could put together less of a Frankenvette and more of an icon to be.
Of course, the script would need a major overhaul, as well. And good luck getting Luke Skywalker in an out of a C3 nowadays.
A movie with a little less Barris style car, a lot less Transformers concept car flare, with some real show and go would be a hit... Well, at least I'd go see it.

The thing that made cs endearing was how cheesy it was, timing, the era,
A movie where loser boy gets the girl, and it has a car in it,
Remake it? Times changed,
Imho it wouldnt work like so many other remakes that fell short,
In cs we have a 73, 5 years old at the time,
So for our remake we would use a hopped up c6? An icon ? Lol,
Didnt they do that and call it fast and furious part _____?
Dont get me wrong i loved old car flicks and the idea of remarks engages my mind,
Cannonball run
Gumball rally
King of the mountain
Smokey and the bandit,
to name a few,
I just cant see remakes working for the classic cheesy car flicks,
However,
I oftend wish a bunch of new car flicks would come out, and what you want isnt a remake of cs to me but a whole new concept,

Hey Bats... I was thinking more of a remake set in the same era... Throw a customized 69 into a late 70's setting... Feathered hair, bell bottoms, the works... It'd have a kick a$$ soundtrack, for sure.
Just keep the shark toothed cheese grater off the hood.

Like how Hollywood Knights was made in 1980 about the early 60's. or American Graffiti was made in 73 (I think) about that same period approximately.
A modernized version of Corvette Summer could only be a campy comedy, at best.
