Default Help reading block stamp pad please!

Top of pad has ......
VO33OCLA
Bottem of pad has......
17S followed by the vin number on the dash !

I have no clue what the top letters and numbers are telling me !
If I'm correct the 17S means Jan. 1977 St. Louis?
Thanks in advance! I finally got it where I could see them!

The V is the engine plant (not sure which one it is)
The 0330 in March 30th
The CLA is the designation for what the engine horsepower rating and maybe transmission combo. I don't know much about 77's. you can look up the code in a google search along with the V engine plant.

The 17S is as you guessed and should be followed by the six digit sequential build number.

Hi,

V means the Flint Michigan Plant.

CLA is a 350-cid, 180HP 8.5:1 compression with four barrel carb and with Automatic Transmission

Ok , so was the engine built before the body ! Just after your post I found out the V is for Flint Mi. Plant and the CLA means 350 cid automatic 8.5 to 1 compression 180 hp ! We will have to fix that
Thank you!

Joe
Thank you Joe
I believe there is something wrong in that equation, a 350 with only a 180 HP just is going to be enough!

Always. Every part on your car would have been manufactured, shipped to St. Louis, and stored before assembly of your car began.
