Optima battery

The used to be the best and I've purchased many but no longer.
Frankly I'll be switching to Walmart Max Something for under 100, if I get one less year no biggie. Cant justify the high Optima costs now.
I picked my last Optima up off Craigslist for 60 bucks or I wouldn't have one now.

My dad rip loved optima batteries and had some way he got them almost free so why not love them,
I bought one in 09 for the 69 and after it got drained dead about 2 years into it it wouldn't take a charge, advanced auto said too bad, but optima said they would hand me a new one,
It took talking to the district manager to actually get the store to do the swap out,
That new one was in the vette until the vette went down a few years after and has been in the daily driver xterra ever since,
I wouldnt pay full retail for another one but would grab one off cl if it has a legit date on it and its not too old,

I had one in my 99. Kept dying. Caused me all kinds of problems. I get my battery at Walmart or Costco. Can't justify spending $100 more for it. Regular battery does the same thing.

I've got one in my 62 for almost 10 years and it's still going strong. It lost the charge a couple of times over the winter but charged up and came back. Maybe I'm just lucky but I'd buy another.

I had an Optima in my Jeep for about 6-7 years before it died. Bought another Optima Red Top to replace it and it died within a year. They replaced it no questions asked. Been going strong ever since.

I really like Optima.
I have Optima batteries in most of my vehicles and they are all working perfectly.
I have 4 in my tour boat, 2 blue marine and 2 yellow top. They have been functioning great for 4 years.
I have had a few die slightly prematurely, once around 8 years ago, at that time Auto Zone let you pro rate a replacement if i remember correctly.
The last 6 I bought were from Ebay and I paid around 170 each I think.
One came cracked and I had to ship it back, but had it replaced in a few days.
I keep everything that is not a daily driver on battery tenders which extends battery life.
Optima also has really nice custom billet battery lock down trays available on ebay and other vender sites which are very nice.

I used to like the Optima batteries. I've had them in all of my vehicles at one time or another. I've had a few problems with a couple that I installed in my C3. I finally went to the Yellow Top deep cycle battery which died prematurely. Fortunately the warranty took care of another one. I have a big stereo amp and decided the Yellow Top was what I needed. I keep it on an Optima charger/conditioner when it sits. So I can say that I'm happy with the current Optima Yellow Top but...
Are they worth the extra money? Not in my opinion. Get a good CCA rated battery at Wal Mart or Sears.

I also used Optimas for a couple of years. Not really worth the hassle.... I also had battery dying issues. I was kind of surprised. Now I just buy a new battery wherever I get the best local deal.

I have had several WalMart Maxx batteries - replaced withing warranty period. Last one, just a few weeks ago, died and would not hold a charge for more than a day or so. Tried to return it under warranty to WalMart and told I would have to leave it with them while they tried to recharge it. Unless I did that, would not get a "printout" that showed battery dead and warranty replacement would not happen. Bought a better battery at Advance Auto for the same price as a new WalMart battery, but with more CCA's and longer warranty. Done with WalMart. BTW, their service area was packed with batteries returned. Says something. Probably 50 batteires sitting off to the side.

I have a redtop thats over seven years old. I had it in the 73 for several years and now it is my spare so it sits on the workbench with the tender on it most of the time. Not once has it died! I have a wholsesale source for Interstate so thats whats in my DD's.

POS. I had one in the Vette that lasted less than a year-and-a-half. As I'm dense I bought another one to replace the first one and it lasted less than a year. Bought a Die-Hard about 10 years ago and it's still in the Vette today. Don't waste your money.

IMO Get the standard battery from your auto parts store and spend the extra money on a tender. Best thing I did for mine. Especially if there are any extended periods of time you can't run the car. Starts like it's brand new every time and has lasted longer than previous batteries.

I bought for my build a few moths a go and I am disappointed. I left the car for 11 days and the battery was dead. I had to use a charger for more than 4 times
