To keep you posted I did bought Alpine KTP-445U 4-channel Power Pack Amplifier


the radio shop recommended it.

That power pack is a great unit. I have one I was going to install in my car, but the RetroSound head unit had a built in amp powerful enough for my speakers as-is. I did just order the Kenwood powered sub after seeing photos of it installed. I’m so excited to finally have a little more bass! I found a new one on eBay for $130, and I couldn’t resist at that price.

I bought NOS from Doc Rebuild. Not that expensive.

Called them this morning...they still do this

I went a bit overkill with my setup, but it has more bass than I ever think I'll need and my t-tops fit. Bolted 3 boxes to the rear fiberglass.

The amp is in the passenger rear storage compartment.

Seriously though, the 10" kicker comp sub puts out a LOT of bass. Really would have been fine with a good quality 8" and I wonder if I would have been happy with one of those small low profile powered sub-woofer units.... but its done and I don't regret it. The kids like feeling it in their bones.

Looking for some 4 x 6 speakers that will fit into the dash and run using my original 1971 Delco radio. Looking at either the Alpine SPS-406 or the Pioneer TS-A4676R speakers. Anyone have these or have options on them. The Alpine was rate #1 car speaker in a "Best Speaker of 2018" and the Pioneer was #5. The one in between don't make a 4 x 6 inch speaker.
