Default The car that talks back

No explanation needed, just cool vintage advertising for our favorite rides.

Absolutely......especially after my power to manual steering conversion. Driving my Corvette is a personal relationship with the road....the gas pedal for the acceleration.....I love it.

I can relate to that. My C -10 is manual everything. When I drive it, I feel like I have a hold of something real. Kinda that hardtail experience. When you swap your steering gearbox, do you have to change the column also.?

Steering box is the same manual and power steering. I removed all power steering parts, and replaced with factory manual steering parts. I even kept my tie rods in the high ratio hole in spindle.

Did the 68's have a silver highlight on the grill? I didn't think so but I kind of like it as I have a silver car. Maybe I'll try some thin silver tape to see what it looks like on my 69. 69's just had plain black grills so far as I know.

The 69 sales brochure can be purchased from I believe Mid America, and had the same spiel about gauges.... the "Corvette has a gauge for everything but your blood pressure"

Yes, all 68's had a silver hi-lighted front grille. Early 69's, I think, carried over the silver grill. The car in that ad picture has to be a pre-production model. If you notice, all six of the grille bars are painted. I think production grilles only had five bars painted silver. Also, as I have said in the past, there is no hump in the front bumper "V". It looks like that is suppose to be a coupe. Notice that the "targa" one piece roof only has a line drawn to simulate the T-tops. Lou.

Yep.

I agree. It could actually be a factory clay being used for long lead media releases.

I have always wondered about the silver grills and always saw them painted like that on BB cars. I have an early build (Nov 67) and the original GM grills that came with the car and they are not silver. I like how it looks though.
But who knows what has happened in its 49 year old life.

If you look at the top surface of the 68-69 grilles, there is a lower portion. This is where GM painted the leading edge and that top portion flat silver. Lou.

Funny, even on this choice example, notice how on the lower left bottom grill surround it doesn't quite line up.
