What seats are these?
BINGO! That's the one! Thank you!

If I could afford to pick up a 69 BB convertible, you can damn well be sure that I would keep it 100% stock. Sadly my wallet cannot sustain that so my goal is to build a classic looking car that is fun and comfortable to drive.
It is with that in mind that I just scored a pair of these seats in cloth from a local source for $80!

I am going to fully re-upholster them within the next few weeks to more suit the style that I am going for.

I'd do a thorough test fit before visiting the upholsterer. See if your head is rubbing the t-top AND that your legs fit under the steering wheel ...
The stock seats were really LOW for a reason...
I don't know what year (guessing it's not a 69BB) and don't know your height- but trust me on a test fit!!!

I totally get you, and I absolutely respect each persons right to do whatever the hell they like with their own car =)

Absolutely, and I was not referring to the seats in particular, rather to the entire build from Heartland Customs... But thats just my personal taste, as there are so many diffrent ones when it Comes to a build like that... I really do admire the abillity and craftsmanship!

or if I will mount a shoulder guide to the upper rear pillar of the birdcage, something like this:
I am leaning towards the latter but will wait until I get the seat apart and can see what I have to work with on the seat frame.

I know this is going to seem weird to lots of people but I am the type who has a plan. I know what my vision for the car will be and I knew after 3 days of looking at different seats that I wanted these to be the ones. I tend to follow the path less traveled and enjoy experimenting so I did not want to go with an out of the box seat.
I have confidence in my abilities so if heartland did it, I know I can (not to compare myself in any way, but I read through their build of that car and the floorpan is OEM). I know that I will have to modify the center console and am actually looking forward to that project as well.
As far as height goes, well the RX8 is pretty tight as well and again, if it fit in that C3 in the video I am confident that I can make it work.
I am also going completely stir crazy so doing this project at least allows me to think that I am doing something towards my goal.
Absolute worst case scenario I am out $80. I have all the other materials and tools...I would hope that unless I light these on fire I could sell them for at least that much. The cheapest I have seen on ebay is $300/seat for leather which is what these will be when I am done.
Oh, and I should have been more clear. I will be making my own custom seat covers for these and not sending it out to an upholsterer.

They really do some impressive stuff. To me, a lot of it is way over the top of my tastes but as you said, you have to admire their quality and innovation.
I went with Corbeau seats- but cut the headrests down to mimic the 69 seats- as I thought they were too tall - and sort of looked out of place. I also took some foam out of the bottoms and went with a smaller steering wheel- I'm 5'11" around 200lbs and even ended up moving the steering column up a bit/angled up to feel more comfortable.
For the seat belts- I used some really nice ones- out of the back seat of a M-B 600SEL - got them for under $30 at the junkyard!!! The rear ones fit the Vette better as the retracting mechanisms were designed to mount up at shoulder level - several others have used the Camaro rear ones.
