Default Valve cover fitment

I have a 1973 big block coupe with factory power brakes and I'm getting ready to stroke my 454 to 496, add Edelbrock aluminum heads with roller rockers. I'm looking for a set of aluminum valve covers that will fit over roller rockers and under the factory power brake booster.
I'm looking for suggestions and pictures of what you guys are running.
Thanks in advance.

Hi OldCarBum,
Here are some pictures of my set up on a 69. The brake boosters are probably similar. I believe these covers are original to the car, the engine is not. It’s a stroked 71 454 with roller rockers . Looks like someone cut the casting flanges for clearance.

Your valve covers are good ones. I had a set of those on a boat several years ago. Thanks for the photos and the info. It gives me a good idea of what will fit.

I know you said aluminum, but I found a set of taller than stock chrome steel covers. Just tall enough to clear the rockers (I'm running shaft mounts) and low enough that they look like the original GM chrome covers unless you look real close.

Hi TimAT, could you post some info on the rocker covers you're using. Thank you. tm

try this-- I didn't get the ones with the recessed corner-- and they fit fine. Takes a bit of finesse to get the left one on, but it always has..

Amazon Amazon

And you can't beat the price

I found these polished cast aluminum through Spectre on their website. Come with baffles installed. They are on my list.

is it the roller rockers or the poly locks that are the clearance issue? cuz as long as there is enough thread for the jam portion of the thread, the OE style of jam nuts work just fine.

The performance machine shop I'm working with builds motors for resto guys who demand the stock covers yet are running rollers with the engine builds. He's suggesting that I stick with the stock or near stock dimension cover, run the Crower stainless roller rockers and machine the locks for clearance.
I would prefer to run a set of tall valve covers and be done, but the clearance between the brake booster and valve cover concerns me.
I've seen several people running the new tall Chevrolet Performance tall covers with power brake boosters and was hoping one would chime in, but not so far. I guess I'll start a thread in tech/performance.
