Default Door Lock Cylinder - I cant seem to find the long one/Right one for my car

So I needed a new door lock, so I purchased a ton and they all seem to be too short. What am I missing here?!

I have a 1979 Corvette.

I'm sorry about that, I'm a bit stressed becuase this is killing me

So the key didnt work for the door locks so I thought no problem I'll just get other door lock cylinder. So first I purchased the one below from rock auto

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...=1041141&jsn=1

and gave it to my mechanic, he called back and said the cylinder part that attaches to the rod is too short and needs to be longer. So he ordered another one, same thing.

He told me hes up to 3 and doesn't know what to do. He mentioned something about getting one with factory alarm? If that means anything?

I don't know what else to do... I can post the VIN if that helps

The bottom lock is the drivers side. I don't remember if the alarm extension is removable, but I think it is, because I had mine rekeyed .

There is a c-clip on the bottom!

I was curious if that was what made it long enough to work , and if so , why his original one didn't have it!

You might be on to something there ! I'm also not sure if the ones I have work with the key or the alarm ! They were taken out of the doors on my parts car and left in a coffee can ! I also sent you a pm !

I'll still follow thru to see if I need them and get back to you !

The reproduction lock companies had this all wrong for years. The 1979 driver side lock had a longer inner cylinder on it so that the alarm switch would go over it and still clip on. The passenger side had a shorter one since there wasn't any alarm switch on the passenger side doors until 1980. The kit below is new and correct.
