Ok , so I finished all the sandblasting I need to under the car and I went in tonite to do the top of the a- arm on the left side and to do the top of the inner right front wheel well !

So the sandblaster was on the right front corner so I thought I would start there ! At first all was good then I got to the part that had all the undercoating on it so I got out the scraper and that's when I find this !

Sorry but it's the best pic I could get! Can't tell if it's 3183 or just 383 !

So my dilemma is I wanted to clean everything off , so if I do anything to this it will all be gone ! Is this a factory marking or just a panel from a junkyard !

Now what ?

Ray, as I cleaned the underbody I did have a few numbers pop up buried underneath stuff. I would think it's from GM. Not sure what they were doing in 77 versus 69 on how they numbered parts of the car.

Ray, unless you are having your car judged I would just get some good photographs of the numbers and continue with your working on the car. Maybe a black light would help to bring out the tint in the pigment of the marker they used. Something you might want to try. Otherwise keep moving buddy, you are on a roll.
Best regards,
David

I tried the black light trick but that didn't help ! I think the pic I have in my phone is better but there's nothing else I can do !

I finished cleaning the wheel well and the top of the a-arm so if I get a little time tomorrow will see if we can get some paint on it !

David I fought that this one will ever grace the lot where the NCRS judges meet ! There is just to much stuff missing from this for it to ever be judged as original!

I am going to look for more places like that ! I've yet to remove the carpet in the rear and who knows I might even find a build sheet or something ! For me no matter what I do to the car it's an improvement over what it was when I got it !

I also think it's kinda cool to find stuff like that !

Getting closer everyday to it having brakes and it being back on the ground !

Thanks Roger !

Crazy part is right now I'm working really hard to get this to a stop point so I can clean out my shop !

When I first got my car I couldn't put it inside my shop because my son had been using it and decided that he would rearrange everything for me !

It took me almost 2 months to remove all the junk that he had piled up in there !

At the same time I got things cleaned up enough I could put the car inside the parts car came so then I had two cars inside !

Then my best friend passed away and the last 6 months I've had his UltraClassic with the Sidecar in there too !

As soon as the car has brakes again the parts car is going on the trailer and out to my brothers house and covered till the shop is clean and organized and the lift put in !

Anyway that's my story and I'm sticking to it !

Ray

Especially when your running around like looking for a tool and there's 3 tool boxes and nothing is make it back to one of them but I know they're somewhere in there !

I'm so ready to reorganize!

Thanks for all the encouragement everyone!

Now Ray, you DO realize that you're going to go through "Postalpartum Syndrome" once your finished, don't you? You may want to consider joining ORA (Over-Receivers Anonymous) to help you with your upcoming mailbox withdrawals....

You have projects after the projects that you are working on Ray. I'll bet you have projects you don't even know about yet. If you run out of projects let me know, I have some you can tackle.

Glad all arrived safe and sound.

Yes sir ! You know that right !

Can't thank you enough for all the stuff you've supplied!

Everything got here in perfect shape !

There's a few others that have sent me things I've needed as well !

When I finally reach that magical finish line I'm going to put together the list so I can thank all of you together !

Another good day is coming up soon ! That will be when I get the front brakes on and bled and the car back on the ground so I can drive it in and out of the shop again!

Yep , there's better days ahead !

Well thank you Roger !

I haven't met a not nice guy in here yet ! Course I've only met you so far !

I agree ! I didn't have the first clue when I bought mine what I was in store for but an education is what I've gotten !

David has been a great help to me , along with quite a few others!

I believe that I'm going to have the pleasure of meeting him in just a few months !

Btw, that's a nice looking 77 he has up on that rack isn't it ?

Any way I just finished cleaning up all the sand again so I'm finally ready to Ospho, prime and paint!

Maybe tomorrow??
