Default alternative for bondo

Hello friends. I need a recommendation to stick the pieces of fiberglass. here in Spain there is no bondo ... so the alternatives are ... front glass silicone, sealer or a special super strong glue similar to the two-component metal but is very expensive.

I would also like to know why not use fiberglass to join since it is the same material as the piece.

Thank you

Bondo is " NOT " used to join two pieces of fiberglass together! Fiberglass mat and resin are used to bond fiberglass pieces together!

Bondo is used to make metal work ( dents in metal) flat and smooth!

Show us some pics of what your working on and maybe some of us can help guide you better !

There is another material that is used to make fiberglass smooth ! It's called VPA , which stands for Vette panel adhesive/ filler !Maybe that's something you can get or an equivalent of it!

Strange they don't have bondo though, what do they use in place of it ?

There is a paint and body section here on the forum! If you research it some you might find a lot of useful tips to help you with your project ! You should find a lot of references to VPA in there as well !

West System fiberglass repair is often used here in the States for body repair on Corvettes.

Bondo is a HUGE mistake and will not adhere to the car. Neither will regular fiberglass repair components.

Are you looking to repair body panels or attach entire sections to one another?

Hi. Maybe I express myself badly ... I'm sorry. I want to unite again the big pieces of the body ... the small repairs if I do them with resin and fiberglass blanket ... but there is a compound that I am removing with a heat gun that is the original glue with which they join all the big pieces. I pass some photos now of the products that I have here ...

Why dosen't Bondo stick to fiberglass. Or regular fiberglass repair components?

I have been using them for 40 years and they seem to work.

Now we know what you are trying to do and that tells us what materials you need for your repair !

Posting here was a good thing but posting in the paint and body section it's possible that a gentleman named DUB can tell you if the materials that you have are equivalent to the material that is used to bond panels !

You definitely need a bonding adhesive to put a front clip back on or to replace a quarter panel back on !

Try posting another thread in paint and body and title it a question for DUB and repost a pic of the materials that you have and ask if they will work for you !

Good luck with your build!

you have the Internet, you can buy any product, from anywhere.
get the correct panel bonding adhesive.
do not settle for something that might hold together.
unless of course you do not mind removing the front clip again.
