Speedometer Gear
I replace the transmission with a TKO 500 five speed transmission and the people that did the replacement put in the wrong speed gear. So I went from a 17 to an 18 tooth gear and I have correct speed from 45-55mph. below 45 I read low on the speedometer over 55 I read high on the speedometer. I admit I am confused as to why.

Are the drive and driven gears color coded.......if they are mis-matched they will not read correctly/will wear out rapidly.
Also......my '68 speedometer head has an adjustment to tweak the reading of the needle.
