When I was a around 19 I ran Firebirds, a girl in the neighbor hood had a Pink Firebird 400. her mother had a pink Cadillac. Her father owened a body shop. There would be 4 to 5 pink cars in front of the house on the holidays..
I'm still looking for the factory 63 split in pink...
Spotted yesterday; Mary Kay PINK Cadillac XLT....the 'mary kay' pink is a very light pastel pink.
So they still do it.....Car had Mary Kay logos all over it.
I vote for 'putrid' more than rare!
Yes, I like a hot pink but the pastel pink is putrid to me too. I hate all pastel colours except pastel purple which I like a lot. I'd like to paint my 79 pastel purple but no one has a paint code for it in the present paint lines.

Have you tried the 'House Of Color' line of paints?
Which seems to look okay on the computer but I'm confused by what's required to make this colour listed in the link above.
I've spent about $1000 having test panels in various colours painted and I estimate I don't have enough funds left to complete the project so I'm kind of out of luck in getting more test panels painted.

I understand!
When I was MUCH younger, I used to build model cars by the dozens, but like most 12-13 year olds, I was on a limited budget. So, when I bought a can of the customary Testors enamel, budgetary considerations required me to spread it over 2-3 models.
I was on a "purple kick" for a while, and painted a both a '62 Corvette and a '32 Ford coupe, similar to the one you posted, in Testors metallic burgundy, which was very similar to the HOK color sample that you posted....
