I need to replace the brake pads on my 68. It is a driver only with stock manual brakes, all in good working condition, so a good street pad is in order. The master cylinder is new and rubber hoses have been replaced with stainless. I've looked at Hawk and Wilwood but thought I would ask for input. I want low dust and quite operation but good stopping power in a panic stop. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
I went to Advanced Auto and got the ceramic but didn't care for them as they have to warm up first. They didn't seem to stop well when cold,so I brought the organic from advanced and they work well,no noise, stop well and minimum dust. I guess in a panic they would stop although I try to stay away from less, shall we say, less qualified drivers.I did have to hit the brakes once following a friend in a c-4(about 90 or 95mph) and all was good.
If you want a quality low dust pad I would recommend the Carbotech 1521 100% made in the USA. Non-corrosive dust will not harm your wheels or paint.
