Thanks for the info. I saw a vendor list early ***** were to vin 401400. Not sure how accurate that number is, but mine is definitely a early in the run. Now just need to find one.
I have a 68 vert (Aug build) that by most indications (vent *****, low seat release, door panels), it also has the Frame Kick up braces. Never will see judging tho.
My 68 convertible is vin 400650 (Sept 67 build). Didn’t think they built 68s in Aug 67, what’s the vin?
If earlier then mine, what was the status of the wiper override **** next to the headlight and wiper bypass valves under the dash?
I have the **** but it’s not connected and I don’t see the wires. Maybe was installed but not used early in the 68 builds??
I’ve seen a list of early 68 Vettes items, but not sure what the white wiper pump cover entails. I purchased the vent ***** that are vent/line pattern and match 1 of the 2 on the car....but the ones I bought have a silver line pattern while mine is silver and black. Anyone know which is correct?
Early cars have been seen with the Vent pointing to back of the car with with horizontal bars above. But we as a group do not have a definitive change over date for the installation of the 2nd design ****.
As for the White pump cover it is the top and housing of the washer pump with the 3 ports and rubber hoses going to it. It yellows with age.

it should have one brown wire with a white stripe going to it. If it isnt there, it is probably going straight to ground. It is used to interupt the ground path and was a cause of many dead batteries. A PO may have been fed up with it an just bypassed the switch
Thanks, previous owner must have not only installed one of the vent ***** as vent/open...but also painted the line side of the second **** with a black background behind the silver lines.
I purchased the correct ***** that are vent/line pattern, with only the vent side in the black background.
Kind of expensive...as are most of these 68 parts.
I will look for the brown/white stripe wire today when I crawl under the dash today. I did see one wire tied to ground that didn’t appear factory...just can’t recall it’s color.
If that’s the case, not sure if I will reconnect to be factory or leave alone and deal with alternatives to change wiper blades by stopping action mid stroke.

My 68 had the brown/white wire attached to the over ride switch but the ground to the switch was disconnected, making it inoperative. There was a non factory ground to the wiper wiring attached to a valve cover bolt. When I removed this this ground the wipers wouldn't work until I reconnected the ground to the wiper override switch.
I'm not trying to confuse things but providing an example of issues that may exist in a 51 year old vehicle.
also a early car will have 2 piece pillar corner trim were the t-top locks, or the conv top locks..both my 68 roadsters 12/67 and 1/68 have these 2 piece corners...troy
It has the white wiper housing.
As for the vent *****, are the horizontal lines silver or silver/black?
Thank you for the reply. Only white pump housing cover I've seen is the one I have. Wasn't sure if it was correct or not. Vin is in the mid 1500's. It's discolored and very brittle. PO stuck a finger or something through it.
So, I opted to connect the brown/white stripe wire to the switch (was connected to a ground) after testing switch and confirming it worked.
The switch only has 1 wire and gets its ground via its bolting to the bracket.
The **** has no letters.
