Speedo cable
I have seen on here a few times to pull the center of the speedomoter cable out of the case and clean it. I have not seen it ever advise to clean the inside of the case. Should one take some brake clean and squirt some in the case to flush trash out of the case. Then use air to finish the flush before installing the center cable.

I've settled on calling the flexible-housing and drive cable.
Cleaning the inside of the housing is a good idea to remove trash/find burrs....maybe you could " pull" a piece of cloth thru the inside of the housing.
Expert members could tell you what cleaning fluid to use so the inside of the flexible-housing won't get damaged.

doorgunner thanks for the help. I just took the air hose and keep blowing air through it. When I went to the parts store to get graphite lube they did not think I should put anything but run air through the housing. I was thinking about brake clean and he thought it would harm the plastic housing. I lubed it and reinstalled the cable. Use the drill to spin the cable after the install.
