Hi All,
Anyone know of a source for this other Corvette Central? Their freight
costs are ridiculous @ $44 US. I have read that SST are supposed to have
one, but can't find it on their website.
Thanks for any help.
Mark
I would call or email them. It would fit in an envelope so it should not be that expensive they have been extremely helpful to me. They are good to work with.

Hi Gordonm,
Contacted them as suggested and this was the reply:
'Unfortunately, we no longer ship anything in padded
envelopes. All parts are shipped in some sort of box. I looked into seeing
if the shipping could be reduced and all I could come up with was $10.00
less than the quoted shipping cost.'
That still makes shipping $34US . These companies really need to
smarten up their shipping options for international customers.

Dang that stinks. It's flat and should be able to be shipped easily but I guess that is their policy. Seems like it should be about 5 to 8 dollars to ship that little piece.
they also incur handling costs, no one works for free there, expenses are going up for everyone ,except me, wages don't go up for me, but maybe everyone gets a raise now & then. Time is money to some, yes they make a profit on parts, but, that is not enough to pay for advertising , overhead, etc. for the company. JMO I AGREE with you that it sees high, but, put yourself in their place. I agree with TIGERJOE!!

^ This. I am accustomed to running business so I get where this comes from. Another angle to consider is that every time they sell a part to a conversion, it is a sale that they have LOST for their full conversion kit. I was honestly surprised that they sold it separately but it speaks very highly of them as a company. They have earned my future business.

As was mentioned in their email, the part came in a box. Such a thin piece of aluminum could easily be bent in a padded envelope which would ruin the part. You could not bend it back without distorting the part and/or ruining the finish.
I just checked my invoice from them (since it was literally on top of the pile) and I paid $9.50 which is reasonable.
Even if someone in the USA were to purchase the part and ship it to you, it would still end up costing you more. I do a bit of international shipping and the USPS is by far the cheapest for items of this size. A flat rate international small box would still cost me (I get a discount) about $29.
The good news is that it is worth the money in my opinion. The part looks fantastic and was received in perfect condition without a scratch on it.
