I see some GD&T concerns right off the bat, but for what you are doing it is pretty close to correct. There would be a few changes that I would make on it. As for the size and spacing of the holes, I will grab my set of brackets this week from my parent's place and measure them out to see what I come up with and can redline your drawing with any changes I measured.
I would drop the .55 holes to .531, that's the standard clearance hole for a 1/2" bolt at my company.

No worries. GD&T has been one of my biggest struggles as a Design Engineer. I did however just finish a training course on the subject.

You don't want the holes sloppy big, as the bracket might from pressure slide! The part is meant to eliminate flexing forces!And being new, unlike me! You could probably post up your email for talking, as you haven't upset CF members in mass like I have done! I did a New Years resolution for 2018, to try to be nice, but my damn smile function isn't working!
