its one of those things that, even if the car is perfect, other people will always think there is something wrong with it. It will never be worth what it should be worth again.
In other cases, it can save you, because the car usually isn't perfect ;D
I do not buy cars as investments i buy them as cars.
Im thrilled most corvette guys wont touch one with a blem title...
Rebuilt title, Likely not only would it not stop me from buying it but if the price cut was like what i got my sweet fiero for i would jump on the vette with a rebuilt title,
Of course when or if you go to sell it then you have to sell it cheaper than one with a non blem title but you bought it cheaper so it evens out...
States dont like to issue rebuilt titles and the inspections are tough,
So it would boil down to is the car what i want in a condition i desire and is the price cut accordingly for the blem title,
There's a custom 68 in for sale section i would buy "if" the price reflected the blem title...

I got my 78 S/A with a state issued vin tag. Could never find out why. It appears to have been hit and driver side post where vin was was replaced. ( I do know that it is not stolen) but I knew that the resale was going to be less. but as Mr Bats said, I don't buy it for resale. I got it cheap so I could do whatever I wanted with it and not have to worry about hurting it's value. I wanted a platform for a restomod not an off the showroom floor car. All depends on what you want your car to be. Good luck.
They don't call them "salvage" titles for nothing. Nothing but hidden defects, shotty repairs, and a for sure rattle trap.....When there are so many reasonably priced Corvettes available I wouldn't have one on my driveway.....
Now my son, is driving a souped up Audi with a rebuilt title and having a blast with it....Difference is, he works for Audi Porsche, and gets parts and has the shop at his fingertips for peanuts.
And to clarify my original post,
Nothing at all half assed or hack jobbed on my "rebuilt" title fiero,
Its 90% plus restored, basically a show car and no rattles like 40 plus yo c3s have...
I got it for about 1/3rd what it would have fetched with non rebuilt title, vettes sadly dont seem to get that big a price cut with a rebuilt title....go look what c2s fetch even with blem titles....
So yes guys.....keep hating those rebuilt titled vettes since im in the market for another one....

Another point I'd add is that this does have a bit to do with the style of life you prefer to live. It takes a special few, to prefer rolling down the road in a prior junker and then there's those who go with the nice dependable pristine ride....
I wouldn`t touch it. But then, I live in Florida, and have had more than my share of BS about titles for old cars from the DMV. Enough so, that I would never buy anything with a 3rd party title, an old title, a salvage title, out of state title, bill of sale, or anything other than a clear, FL title in the seller`s own name.

There's an *** for every seat!

Rebuilt title dosen't always mean junk. And looking at half the project threads on here most of the guys started with regular titled junk. And made them pristine and reliable.
Most rebuild title cars have to go thru a tough inspection so they can't be junk.
And I don't know what lifestyle has to do with anything.
I hear you jim, got to go with whats right for you,
Some people like to restore a car, make it as good or better than it was new, and drive it care free,
Others like cars that are 20 30 40 plus yo and they do the bare minimum to hopefully keep all the old worn out parts together and keep it going when they do drive it,
i would never have peace of mind that way, i like things up to par not half assed,
It wouldn’t have taken much damage to a late 70s Vette in the 90s to get a salvage title. I recall paying $1995 for a 69 350/350 4 speed in the late 70s. Didn’t take a tremendous amount to total one of those cars back then. They weren’t valuable collector cars, they were “gas hogs” that people were dumping. I had a friend in high school who had a 427/435 ‘69 Vette. He saved what he made a the local gas station to buy it. Drove it everyday rain or snow.
