I treated the inside of my frame with Prep and Etch. I sprayed it into the frame using a lawn chemical sprayer. After that dries I want to coat the inside of the frame , the best I can with rustoleum. I want to spray it from the same sprayer. How much should I thin the paint and with what.
I can't give you an amount, but rustoleum doesn't take much thinner to reduce it's effectiveness. I'm just guessing 5% or about 6 oz. of thinner to a gallon of rustoleum.
By the way....IS the frame BARE....if so I would place the frame in different positions as I sprayed inside it so the paint flowed into all the crevices.

Frame is still under the car. I am going to spray it thru the access holes.
some food for though- my dad used to spray all the inner fenders of pickups he worked on with rustoleum. oddly, every time he thinned and sprayed a set of fenders with gloss black rustoleum, they would come out a different shade- anywhere from satin to shiney.
Acetone, urethane reducer, mineral spirits and even lacquer thinner will work. I prefer urethane reducer as it will dry about the quickest. I believe the Rustoleum company recommends acetone.
Personally, I used FluidFilm on the inside of my frame. Made a spray vessel from a propane tank and fashioned a 360 deg. spray head on the end of a hose and wand. Worked great.

I actually tried it. Beside the hose being a pain and having to tape a piece of welding wire onto it. It didn't cover as well as I thought it would. I bought one of those cameras you can run down the frame and there were bare spots. Yes I pulled it along nice and slow. It would probably take 5 cans to do the frame. I am going to try the rustoleum now and see how that works. The bottom line is this car will never see rain, snow, salted roads or any other type of water again.

Being an "old timer" has exposed me to a lot of "stuff", but sometimes that "stuff" isn't available anymore. I SURE DO seem to remember that Rust Oleum made a "thinning oil", to be used with their paints. However, that doesn't mean that is hasn't been discontinued......
