I have been considering swapping out the stock seats in my 75. I have the opportunity to trade my seats for a set of 81 seats but as with most things, there is a potential hitch. These seats have the power option which I understand presents a problem. I understand that the power seat would sit higher in my 75, which I do not want. Is there a way to convert the power seat to manual and mount it as a non-power seat? What would be required? Different tracks? Different base? Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Possibly. Remove the seat from the power motor rack and remove the seat control buttons from the seat shell. That will leave a gap where the buttons were. Mount your 75 seat tracks on the 81 seats.

We would have to swap the full seats - including the tracks in both directions. So he would have to use the tracks currently mounted to the (what i believe to be) the '81 seats.
Also, would the seats from his '75 mount straight into my '78? (With his tracks, of course)
If I recall a thread I saw recently, 75 seat tracks are peculiar to the 75. I do not know what makes them different though. I believe it has to do with mounting to the car, not to the seat itself.
