I just rebuilt my quadrajet carb, and put it back on the car. The problem it would not start. I put gas down the vent tube and it would start and run good for a few minutes. And it would die. I put gas again in it it did the same thing. I then took the fuel line loose and turned the car off for a good while. No gas came out of the line. My question is it possible that before I took the carb off I had created a vacuum on the fuel line and it ran fine. But when I broke the vacuum it will not pump gas up to the carb.
you could take the fuel line off the pump,to see if fuel will leaks out, if none leaks:but first check the fuel cap, before you do this, unscrew it to make sure there is no vacuum in the tank. You may have a float or needle & seat stuck shut in the carb, not allowing any fuel to come into the carb. Make sure the "S" hose on the fuel line to carb is not kinked shut, make sure you have a "s" hose connecting the fuel pump to fuel line, if not and you are using ordinary fuel line, it will kink shut(ask em how I know).

Thanks Ronnie, I don't think the seat is stuck. I took extera care when I rebuilt it. Now for the s shape line there is not one. The po put long hose on the metal lines to the pump, and also ran rubber up to the carb and used those fittings that are a red flair nut and blue connector on the carb. I was just out in the garage looking down at the pump, and thought about what you just said about a kink in the line. I just got off some of the venders site to look a the wright supply line to the pump and to the the carb so I could put it back like it should be. Stuff is not cheap for some little lines. I have found Auto-Zone has AC DELCO pumps for 31.00. It ran fine when it started with gas poured down the vent tube. It ran fine before I pulled the carb. I know when I was in the service In 69 over seas I was in motor transport. I cant remember why I pulled the fuel line loose on my truck. But when we hooked it back up It would not start. We found out that the pump was not pumping. Maintance said it would be a few days befor they could look at it. There were brand new trucks that just got there, so we decided to get a new one off of one of those trucks. The truck ran like a top. That is what I thought might have happened here, when I took the line loose on the carb and broke the vacuum that was there before.
Thanks again
