Default So, this happened today....

So this happened today. Early this morning someone backed their big pickup truck into our parked car. My son spent the better part of a year looking for a Corvette for his first car. I really didn't think he would ever find one. He finally found this four speed white/red beauty. Pretty heart breaking day. Hoping it can be rebuilt. Has anyone ordered body parts (nose, hood, front clip) from Ecklers or another company?

Good grief....I wish I could help but I have not ordered that kind of part from any venders yet. I am sure its fixable. Keep us up to date please as to where you buy and how it fits. Looks like you need half a nose....how is the hood?

Scary.......but very fixable. Did any cameras catch the truck doing the damage?

The person who backed into him admitted to it. There's a little damage on the hood. Not sure what all damage is underneath. I know there is some damage to the headlight.

I guess you know who did it, since you said pick-up.
I would find original parts off a wrecked corvette.
Find a CORVETTE repair shop, not a metal shop, someone who knows fiberglass and have them repair it.
the insurance of the person who hit should have to pay, no matter what the costs are.
If the person got away, then your insurance will have to pay, you do have insurance, right?

Any ideas how to go about finding original parts or a corvette repair shop?

post wanted ads.
search online classifieds for people parting out cars sometimes they part out panels or body sections.
call wrecking yards. specialty shops.

need to see if the reinforcement bar is messed up on the nose. looks seperated
need fender section, inner fender, hood surround. probably easiest to find someone with a shell and cutout a donor.

First off, where are you. People near you can help with repair shops, parts sources. But we don't know which end of the country, let alone town...and what year is it?

I would guess no damage underneath. if truck hit the wheel, he would have bent up suspension components, but would have done much less glass damage. here is a whole nose in Georgia. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Corvette-fr...dWqBL4&vxp=mtr

Look on your local Craigslist and on EBAY. Find a local Corvette club and go to one of their meetings and talk to them about your car and needs. Sorry that happened to you.

Insurance just might total that car. How many miles on it?

Fiberglass damage always looks worse than it is. This is very fixable.

your nose consists of 3 major pieces. the hood surround. https://www.ebay.com/itm/75-82-Corve...JRbQYr&vxp=mtr and the 2 fenders. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Corvette-Or...pRhmqg&vxp=mtr first you see how it drives. then you go get 2 or 3 body shop estimates. then you will have an idea how much dinero you are gonna have to deal with this issue. ASSUMING he has insurance. once again, where you live matters. there are people on this forum who can check the car for you and take you to local glass guys they know and get you a WAY better deal than the insurance will pay. many are well versed in glass repair and can help you if you are considering doing this repair yourself. and can help you find parts locally. put a WTB ad on the forum here. lots of us have broken up noses in the yard and can cut you out the corner you need and ship a piece that size reasonably.

I agree. It took a big whack. Makes you wonder what was going on while the pick up was backing up.

I'm sorry to say and sorry this happened, however that car will be deemed a total from your insurance company or the at fault carrier if you should decide to go thru them.

Each carrier will give you the opportunity to purchase/retain the salvage.

This nose, like the one I found is also in georgia. Anything under 6-700 miles is a worthwhile road trip.

Wow! I am sorry to hear of your unfortunate day. You should be able to have it repaired since it appears to be only body damage. Good Luck!
