After installing new rubber bushings in control arms should the weight of the car be on the wheels to tighten the end bolts or should the wheels be in the air?

Exactly. Forum members advised me that the car body will "sit" a couple inches too high and the rubber inside the bushings will be torn to shreds in a few thousand miles if the bushing bolts are tightened with the "wheels in the air".

That is what I thought but I never saw that in my "Chilton" books.
