Nice car! I grew up in NOLA so I know what you mean about working on a car in the summertime! Regarding those tires - excellent decision to replace them - just let the shop recycle them. BFG's or Cooper Cobras seem to be tires commonly installed these days.
Good luck!
It's been absolutely brutal this year, and the only time I've had to really tinker is on the weekends and it's either raining sideways or too hot to touch a wrench without gloves. I got the AC charged up so at least we can go for drives and not melt. New tires may make it more comfortable. BFG's are what I have on order, really wish there were other options but I'm not willing to put new wheels on her. Yet.
nice car!!! sounds like you have the dreaded fuel sending unit problem tho… good luck with it >.<
how about some more pics of the engine bay and interior and everything else? :P
Actually, I sorted out the fuel sending unit issue a while back. This thread is kind of old, but I didn't want to muddy the waters with a new one since I'm a relative newbie around here. I followed the troubleshooting guide from Willcox and before I got too far, I cleaned the connections with some emery cloth. That did the trick. I was *thisclose* to dropping the tank to change out the sending unit when I looked up at the gauge and saw it move off of the F. After enough spins around the neighborhood over the months I have enough confidence that it's working. I can't speak for accuracy, but when it gets around a 1/4 tank on the gauge I fill it up. I'll get some pics of the engine and the rest soon, I have plenty more questions!

hehe, emery cloth and dielectric grease, my choice of every restore, well that plus a tap&die set, and anti-seize
