Default Laguna Grey question

I love the color and I am seriously considering painting my Flame Red 75 Laguna Grey. Can someone tell me if the color has metal flake in it? From all of the picture I have seen, I just can't tell.

Thanks,
Bryan

find a laguna grey car and see it in person. or at least get a pint mixed and shoot-brush it on a large surface. you can not tell enough about a color with your computer screen.

BEJ,

You are invited to take a road-trip to Winfield, WV and check out the factory original Laguna grey paint on my 1970 LS-5 roadster. There appears to be a very slight metallic appearance to the finish which allows it take on various color changes depending on lighting conditions. Sometimes it appears to have grey, green or blue tints. That's one of the really cool things about Laguna grey. I saw a '70 Laguna grey repaint at the World of Wheels car show in Huntington, WV yesterday and it did not look like my original paint. That one looked to have more grey similar to a newer Chevy truck. It didn't have the greenish-blue tint that I expected. The owner wasn't around to ask questions, as I wondered who mixed the paint formula. Pics showed that the car was originally red prior to the repaint.

I love this color with Pewter a close second than Steel cities gray.
If I ever did a color change from my current original Safari yellow,
it would be one of the above 3 variants.
Love that cool color Hot Rod Grille, thanks for sharing.
Do you think the new base/clear coats can not reproduce that greenish...bluish hues of the old school lacquers of the day?

Thanks for the reply and comments. Possibly it may be the base/clear that caused the repainted car at the show yesterday to look quite different from my original paint. I really wish the owner had been there to answer my question regarding where/how the color was mixed. It definitely did not appear to be lacquer.

IMCO your satisfaction with the color is going to be more dependent on who mixes the color as opposed to the color code you ask for.

my 70 laguna grey not original paint so previous owner had it mixed.. don't know the formula and this might be a wavelength or 2 from exact.. of course the factory color was probably off plus or minus a few wavelengths with each car too...

Jim,

Thanks for the invite to see your beautiful 70 in person. I spend a fair amount of time out in Western MD and may take you up on it.

Thanks,
Bryan
