Petrol Cap
Please can someone help, My 72 LT-1 arrived from Vancouver and is still in a warehouse waiting clearance from Customs. I was allowed to view the car, it was locked and I thought I would check the fuel level by removing the gas cap but no I could not remove it. First it turned anti clockwise then I depressed it and turned it anticlockwise but no I could not remove it, something as simple as removing the gas cap, is there some trick? Please help.

That should be a non vented cap if stock. Turn it counter clockwise to remove but push down fairly hard while turning to get it past the initial hold point on the cap so you can remove it. The cap has a spring in it to seal so you have to press down while turning to get it to the unlocked position then it will lift straight up.
