1975 connection behind speedometer

Default 1975 connection behind speedometer
What is this connection for behind the speedometer in my 1975? I cannot see anything that would connect to it. Previous owners made some modifications for an aftermarket stereo so it has been apart at least once before. The wires leading into it are orange and pink/black.
