hey fellow corvette people I’m new at this site, I have a couple of questions if anybody can help me great, see I got this 77 corvette from my dad it needs a lot of work but hopefully I will restore it before I croak, that’s putting it a little pessimistic, anyway the interior carpets are red but I’m replacing it with a new set. I looked for the color and I can only match the color oxblood which is the color it has now including dashboard and everything interior, when I look up the color it says it’s for a 1975 the color doesn’t come for a 77 or does it, is there a list of what colors come with what year. Also last question for now I removed all the hushmats they were all messed up, I’m scraping a cleaning the floor what type of paint, sealer or treatment should I use for the floor when done before applying ne hushmats. Hope I didn’t bore you guys next time I hope to ask shorter question, hope I didn’t confuse ya’ll. Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum !

Think it's awesome that you got your dads Vette!

First off you'll find out that everyone here loves pictures!

So remember to post plenty and often !

You'll find an incredible amount of knowledge and wisdom here and people willing to answer questions!

If you look inside the drivers door between the door and the body you'll see a metal tag ! Take a pic of it and post it as it will tell everyone things about your car !

This tag tell you the body color , interior trim color , even when your car was born !

Mine has a birthday coming up on the 14th of this month !

A great place to look for original parts for yours is the parts section here !

Also heard a lot of good stuff about Willcox Corvette, Paragon, Corvette America, to name just a few !

Make sure you ready the sticky on "The ten things to look for when buying a c-3 " ! That will help you to know where to start as you begin this journey!

We'll be watching for more on your build as we bring them back to life together!

You will find the "Trim Tag" on the driver's side, forward door jam, above the top hinge. The trim tag will have two codes on it, one for the exterior color (paint), and one for the interior color (trim). Post the codes on the tag here, and someone will decode them for you.

The 77 red interior was a very dark red, almost maroon, and may look like oxblood in catalogs and on websites. When seen side by side with the 77 red, oxblood is more of a mahogany color.

The trim code for the 77 red interior was "72C" for cloth seats and "722" for leather ones. Below is what the trim tag should look like, this is a 71 tag, but your 77's should look the similar.

As far as treating the floors, POR-15 is a good choice to preserve them and prevent rust, but a good coat of primer is probably all you really need to preserve them.

Congrats on the car....

Google: HOW STUFF WORKS 1977 CORVETTE

auto.howstuffworks.com

If you put it into the Google Search it will give you the info, then at the end are links to other info.

I use 777 spray adhesive on a clean floor and the insulation never lifts. Also works for Vinyl tile in the house. Once it's down it's down probably forever.

now that the fuzzy jute stuff is gone, dynamat is FAR superior both for noise and heat. go to page 1 of doorgunners 68 convertible build thread. he has a table of contents and spent quite a bit of time on soundproofing his interior. he learned as he went, made all the mistakes, and posted them to save us the pain of making them again...

Welcome to the Corvette Forum and 77 Coupe Ownership. I have had four of the 77's and loved each one.

You have gotten good information here on the red interior and the trim tag is a good place to start for your car.

If you want to learn more about your 77 consider purchasing the AIM electronically from one of the suppliers like Willcox Corvette or Corvette America. It has saved me hours of research.

I also like the Corvette Black Book for information like you are asking in the combination of colors available for your 77 and other Corvettes from 1953-2017. I refer to the book on a regular basis for that type of information.

Many of these cars changed hands many times, and many have had modifications that made sense to the person that modified them back in the day. Whatever you intend to do with the car enjoy the adventure.

I used the DynaMat in my car as well, works very well, just protect your hands when putting it down because it has a metal backing and it will cut your hands if not very careful.

Have a great time and again, welcome.
