Default 1977 Flying Corvette

Well, not really flying so much as hovering, and unfortunately not under it's own power.

I made this setup and wanted to share it for anyone thinking about lifting a body from a C-3.

Gantry crane is from Harbor Freight.
I purchased two gantry trolley's and mounted them on the crane.
I purchased a set of four towing straps and had them sewn with body lift hooks on one end in a length that worked for me on my lift.
The gantry crane straddles my Bend-pack lift.
I use the lift to match up to the straps, lower the lift to raise the body.
I use two ratchet straps up on the nose attached to the radiator surround shroud to stabilize the nose of the car.
By using the two trolley system you have some lateral movement left and right to adjust the hanging body when you are ready to put it back down onto the chassis.

It makes body removal much easier than any other method I have found.

If I can help any of you with more information about the setup please let me know.

Best of success for your projects.

Yep , that is exactly the way I'll want to do mine when I get to that point !

For now though I still haven't finished stage one !

I'm gonna save those pics so I don't have to search for them when I reach stage two !

Thanks David !

Sure looks like a good excuse to pick up a gantry setup... Hmmm...

Go on Craigslist and type Gantry into the search box. People buy them all the time use them once and then put them back up for sale.
