Does anyone know how many 1981 corvettes were made that are white with cinnabar interior? I have looked at a few sites and none of them show white 81's with cinnabar as an interior color. Thanks in advance.
The Corvette Black Book list an interior color option of MR or Medium Red...maybe that is the color? I know of one in our club, white 81 (four speed I think) with cloth cinnabar interior.
No records exist for how many 81's (or any other year Corvette), were built in a particular color or option combination. GM just does not have these records.
White was by far the most popular color in 81, with 6,387 white 81's being built. Medium Cinnabar was available in both cloth (Trim Code 67C) and leather (Trim Code 672). Mahagony, Classic White, Black and Frost Beige were all "Recommended" exterior colors with Cinnabar. Medium Cinnabar was only offered on St. Louis built 81's, and was discontinued when production began at Bowling Green in June 81.
I don't believe that Cinnabar was a very popular color. White seems to be the most common color for the Cinnabar interior to show up in, though I have seen it in Frost Beige cars too. I've never seen a black and Cinnabar 81, but I think that would be a very striking combination.
Below is the interior samples page from the 1981 Chevrolet Dealer Album. Note that Medium Cinnabar is called "Rust" in the Dealer Album.
Thanks for the replies guys. I actually really like the white and cinnabar color combo, i think it would look really good on a dark green exterior as well.
My '81 has Mahogany Metallic paint with Medium Cinnabar (672) trim and I have also been trying to find out how many cars were produced with this combination.
Apparently 1092 cars were produced in Mahogany but that is as far as I have got.
I will try the Facebook page you suggested.
