Default '74 carpet install underlayment

Getting ready to put new carpet back in and wondering if it needs to be glued down (some type of spray glue). Doesn't seem like it should but had someone mention it in passing.
Also wondering if I should invest in sound deadening material for the flooring (dynamat, roadkill, etc.).

Has anyone replaced the carpets in a 1974? Thoughts?

I just put mine in last week in my ‘74. I’ve only glued the price behind the seats. Everywhere else should be held down pretty well with the trim. Also someone on the forum recommended cutting the jute padding behind the gas pedal. So I did that.

Yes, pull the jute fuzzy junk and replace with dynamat. Quieter and most important, cooler.

Did the carpet you use have a backing? Jute etc? How was the thickness around the storage compartment? I like the idea of the Dynamat and the second layer of sound deadener..

I bought my carpet from willcox. And came with jute around certain areas. I havent Done the storage compartment yet. I’ve read multiple threads where people doubled up the sound deadener and heat barrier in the storage area. I plan on putting atleast 1 layer of each in the storage compartment. Exhaust can be loud so I’m trying to limit the road noise. I kept the jute on the carpet besides right behind the gas pedal.
