tube insulation-evap & blower
in the AIMS book for 1971 vette page UPC C60, sheet D2, picture shows insulation material wrapped around Item 3. What is this material? Only stuff I could find is tar like and very tacky. I checked with a HVAC man as well as a plumber and the stuff they recommended is tacky also. Anyone have any idea what to use or will what I was recommended dryout and lose the tackyness. I don't remember the name of the stuff other one was a 3M product.

That tape is what GM used for years. The outer surface will eventually dry out a bit, but you'll have to cut it off to remove after it's been on there.
