I need to replace my original 4" x 10" 69 kick panel speaker that blew out. I have read a number of older threads that indicate that I need to make sure I get a 10 ohm speaker, however, many of the replacement speakers come without the mounting bracket and wiring, and if they do, the catalog suggests you have to mess with the speaker opening to accommodate the new speaker. Does anyone know where I can simply get a replacement 4 x 10 (10 ohm) speaker that fits without having to do any cutting of the opening and also comes with a riveted mounting bracket and wiring hookup that can be plugged into the main wire? So far, I haven't been able to find that "perfect" stock replacement speaker, if there is such a thing. Thanks!

Try "Electro-tech" they sell a thin line true 10 ohm speaker that will fit and work in the stock location without modification. I put a pair in my 68 last year. You will need to transfer your brackets and connectors from the old speakers, Good luck RICH
Thanks...will give them a call. I’m mostly concerned about not having to modify the speaker opening, which many replacement speakers require.
I have a pair in my '69. Drop in fit. Easy. No modifications. I think I had to drill a couple of small holes to anchor them. They suggested plumber's pipe strap if you need to make up any sort of bracket.

For upgraded sound, if you have an already cut din hole or buy one off ebay that is already hacked up like I did, I owuld look for agood name brand head unit, then get a good amp and thin subwoofer. Then get some boxes for the back. I used all Alpine components so it was plug and play. Some guys have saved music on a usb drive and just buy an amp and sub that is either USB compatible or Blue Tooth compatible and dont even use a head unit.I'm old school and like the head unit for FM but it has bluetooth and I usually use Pandora or CDs while enjoying a long roll through the country. I used to listen tot he sox games on the way back from shows but that was a different world
Appreciate the reply. Gonna remove my head unit to see if it’s,cut,up behind the plate. If it is I’ll get a nice pioneer head unit, as that’s what I have in my truck and my GTI. I’ll keep you posted.
So I got my new speakers for the front. Now for the head unit. I took the faceplate off the old Blaupunk, the dash is slightly cut. I thought that I read that they made a radio surround that would accept a single din radio. Does anyone have any info on that? Also can I put a retractable antenna on this 69? Would be easier to deal with a car cover.
