I have a 1977 purchased last fall The ac compressor is original and has 2 green and one black wire coming from it.
The black is grounded and appears to be tight. One green wire is about 12 inches long and plugged into a harness running along the passenger fender wall.
MY problem is the second green wire. It was just laying on the exhaust manifold and the end was burned off. IT is about 18-20 inches long and I have no clue where it runs to I have it folded so it doesn't touch anything. Does someone knows where this should hook up. I am terrible following schematics. I want to try and hook it up. See if the compressor turns on then pressure test the system. Any help would be appreciated
The green wire goes to the low pressure cut off switch on the high pressure line by the fender and also to the thermostatic switch which is on the evaporator tube. The tube is the one going into ac box with the black coating on it. There is also a tan wire that goes to the carb idle solenoid
I think he is working on an early build 77. My late build 77 has the Lt. Green wire to the idle speed solenoid, I think early build cars did have the tan wire. I also agree that the wire in question does go to the low pressure cutout switch. The connector to the low pressure cutout switch looks like this -https://willcoxcorvette.com/corvette...e-switch-73-79 and the switch is located here -
So the tan wire on the connector would come from the function selector switch (console slider switch A/C mode both Min & Max) pass through the low pressure switch comes out as the Lt. Green wire at the compressor connector.
