I'm trying to identify this sensor on a 1982 Corvette. I cant find it on the AIM.
It is just to the rear of the dip stick as viewed in this picture and has to be replaced to pass a safety inspection.
My supplier sent me a the wrong part.
Thx, John
if that is going into the cylinder head then its the temp sender that gives the reading for the dash
It's threaded into the block just 1/2" to the rear of the dip stick tube.
Has 2 parallel spade connectors and you can view about 1/16" that shows between the brass and the ivory wire connector.
Looks like the electric fan switch, its not a sensor its a thermal switch to turn the fan bolted to the radiator on.
Thx av81. I had that on my list.
I found it confusing because this 1982 has the pulley and V belt driven fan that mounts off the water pump,... and no electric rad fan.
It does have this "electric fan switch" complete with the wires that run with the air conditioning pump wiring harness.
The "electric fan switch" wiring and connector are not connected to anything at the rad/air conditioning pump locations.
I should be able to simply remove and plug the hole in the block. Will it spill coolant if I remove? Interesting.
If it does have a coolant seal then it can't leak oil and therefor that oil came from came from a drip off the dipstick or similar.
It's making sense now.
I look forward to your reply.
Thx again, John
