Default What is this thing in my luggage compartment?

There are two of these chrome "things" in my '73's back luggage area. They're really low and seem practically useless. They poke up through the carpeting, so they must have had some sort of purpose originally, but what? Are they tie-downs of some sort? If so, for what exactly? Any thoughts on this mystery? Thanks in advance for any help. —Mark

Footman loops. You should have a Y shaped strap that holds down your T-tops. The third footman loop should be between the seats just above the parking brake console.

Did they come in convertibles as well?

Maybe for a luggage tie down.

I didn't notice a third one. I'll have to check. I don't have any y-shaped strap, either. Any pics of what it looks like?

VERY nice! Now I know what to look for. I like how they're bagged and then tied down. I appreciate your help!

Not in convertibles. Only used in coupes.

Excellent! I hope I can find a repro. I also need a pair of those t-top bags!

Great information! I was luck that my T-Tops had the original GM/Fisher bags but I did not get the strap. I'll have to see if CA has one in Claret.

Really? I did not know that. Always thought they both came with the loops installed for "luggage" straps

I thought the GM/Fisher marked bags were only in the Firebirds and Camaros.
