Are you talking about 17" wheels in general or on a Corvette?

A similar search was fruitless for me as well, but I recall building a model of a Porsche 959 back in the late 80s and I'm almost certain it said the 959 was one of the first cars to be equipped with 17" wheels. I don't this it said it was THE first, but up to that time nothing had engineering as sophisticated as the 959 with its huge brakes, ABS, AWD, etc. The Corvette got them in 1988.

Yes I ment the wheels in general. I know they did not came with the C3, but it must have been in this age. Ok it´s C4 age, I thought they came earlyer.

Well, the '33-'34 Fords downsized from the 18" rim to the 17" rim, but it was only 3 1/4" wide.
