Default Fitting Cassette Radio

Can anyone tell me if a typical 80's aftermarket shaft style cassette player will fit in the dash bezel of a 76? I don't have access to my car right now and I am trying to find out if the distance between the ***** is consistent with the aftermarket systems. Thanks in advance for any help.

Probably not. The 68-76 factory units were unique to Corvettes and cassette was not available. The last thing you want to do is cut the stock bezel to fit in the aftermarket cassette. Ditto for 8-track units; they won't fit either.

I think it was around 1978, that GM went to the size of radio that the aftermarket had been calling "standard sized", for several years, back then.

If it were my car, I'd get one of the "modified" replacement bezels that the aftermarket Corvette suppliers sell, and install a more modern radio, without having to cut up anything.

most old 2 shaft aftermarket radios the ***** spacing was adjustable. A nut locked it down but you could move the *****,

the rectangle dash hole might be too small to fit the radio or the shape of the dash back wont let the radio slide in,

Someone already hacked my 69 so im using a 80s aftermarket single din, cassette with built in cb, just cheeesy coolness,
Used a plate made for c3s and aftermarket units,
But tunes are aux input mp3....
