This is not very C3 related other than illustrating one way of extending your range between comfort stops.

I am almost 71 (next month) and have been blessed with good health and no surgeries...up until now.

For several years I have been ignoring my symptoms relating to difficulty in passing urine. Well, my obstinance finally caught up with me last month. I found myself in ER and then hospitalized for five days. I was asked, "You don't realize how sick you really are do you?" I said, "I guess not!" They replied, "Without further treatment, you would have died within a week!" My reply, "GULP!"

The inability to completely empty my bladder led to the kidneys beginning to shut down which in turn allowed bacteria to enter my blood stream which subsequently led to sepsis. Sepsis is often times fatal for seniors. The cause of the problem was BPH (enlarged prostate). Last Friday I had the hour long surgery best described as receiving a "roto-rooter".

Today, my urine stream is so powerful that I levitate above the commode! I dodged a huge bullet. So for those of you whom are dealing with BPH the earlier you address those symptoms the better because things are only going to get worse. Early diagnosis can most likely be treated with medication versus surgery.

Hope this helps someone.

Regards,
Tom69

Good info, but the "off topic" section might be a better place to post, as more people will see it...….

Good point...I guess a moderator would have to move it.

If it had been in off topic section, I would not have read it. But I do see your point.

Your comments are VERY much appreciated. I've been putting off that Dr. visit, sounds like it's time to stop putting it off ! I'm in that age range where the affected age range climbs dramatically and....

I thank you for the heads up to everyone and glad you had a happy ending,

I do want to say i do not agree with a thing docs like to do,
They love to place experation dates on people.
I do not believe this is a good thing,

Many times its a drama thing to look all epic they saved a person at the last minute, which they very well might have done, however,

Ever read Eight O’Clock in the Morning by Ray Nelson?

I worked in a Santeria botanical, for a spell ( occupational joke )
i know first hand the power of suggestion both positive and negitive,

So i wish docs would lay off experation dates...

Cooter of course i cant speak for tom but my dad had this the last 10 years or so, he also had many of toms issues and side effects,
I recall my dad saying it feels like the flow stops before you are empty,
The last 5 years of his life, he lived to 89 but had lots of heart trouble,
Basically each time he went to the hospital he would get cathed and infections including sepsis,
Ironic they knew his issue but never treated it,
When he passed they called it heart but kidneys were shutting down too,
My dad hated to drink water....

Dont just assume it is BPH. I did. Cialis mitigated the symptoms, so it couldn't be prostate cancer, can it? Yes it can! Just about everybody on this forum needs their PSA levels checked. And anybody with prostate cancer, my spousal unit did a LOT of research on it. PM me, and I will point you in the right direction. BTW, I still get some wood...

Cooter,

I would recommend talking to a medical professional or perhaps read up on BPH symptoms and causes through credible institutions such as Mayo Clinic. Those so inflicted with difficulty in passing urine may share common symptoms but the causes could be quite varied.

Regards,
Tom
