Hey guys....ordered an e-brake console for my C3 from Corvette Central and received it today. Removal of the old one was a breeze, guessing the rear support is missing. Do I really need it? Sure made removal easy w/o it!
Take a look at it and confirm....
Also appears like I'm missing some trim on my doorjamb, can one of you experts post a link to the proper type so I can order it? Thanks
you need interior rear quarter trim panels part sku 483058 from corvette central You might need the interior quarter panel also if not there It is sku483242 from corvette central. The trim panels were painted the color of the vehicle but many people keep them chrome. Hope this helped, Rob

Yes, you need the bolt to keep the back of the parking brake console as it gives the console support so it doesn't break if you lean on it.
From the factory, the bolt was installed from the rear center storage compartment.
Some have installed the bolt into the PB console and shove the threaded end into the hole.

Thanks for that tip.....the bolt can be a real pain to install through the rear compartment!
I painted my retainers black....
also.... there are 2 types of rear quarters.... one is solid if you only have lap belts and the other has a hole in it for shoulder harness belts.
Just to clarify, if you're going for originality, the interior trim panels as shown in post#8 should match the interior trim color. I've seen a mix of vinyl-covered over thermoformed plastic substrate design and I've seen molded fiberglass design, grained and painted to match the interior color. The two piece trim retainers, as shown in post #7 should be painted to match the body/exterior color.
Chrome, oval headed machine screws secure the trim panel retainers to the back side of the panel, through the body (door jamb edge). Chrome, oval headed sheet metal screws secure the panel to a mounting bracket on the interior wheel well. On some models, there'll be a single chrome sheet metal screw at the bottom of the panel, securing it to the inner body.
Convertible panels are different part numbers than coupe. I believe the retainers are the same part number, regardless of body type.
Hope this helps.

Reason: Had post numbers reversed in error.
Yes that's a pair for converts. Coupes are different. Also original trim panels for 70 all had shoulder belt cutouts, even if you didn't have shoulder belts. Grained plastic type material. Not wrapped in vinyl.
So, I deceided to bite the bullet and make some much needed interior upgrades. Purchased an Alpine audio system, gauge bezel to allow proper fit for the modern stereo and the upper dash pad.
All this came apart relatively easy as there were a number of screws missing! Even the upper dash came out easy, heard that can be a bear. Here is where I'm at...
Question: what is this finned electric device? Audio or other?? Looking for a place to mount a small amp and may remove it if it was for the long gone original stereo. Thanks
