Thanks for all the nice comments. The rear lights act as brake lights but only the outside are turn signals. I hope to get to Summit raceway or the new track called Dominion Race-Way just down the road from me. It has been a lot of fun so far and with the 618hp and 574 lbs of torque the temptation is always there I will just say it accelerates like a @#$%^&#. As far as the grill I like the 69 gills better than the grates and the flare/fenders had them since they were taken off one of the 5 Owens Corning Cars. Jeff Leech from Mid America Ind put a lip on them which has worked out fine.
the Owens-Corning team built three C-3 cars not five, they also used the GM bolt on (but glassed over) over the counter L-88 flares not fenders. here is the third car as painted by O-C team member and GM styling engineer Randy Wittine and as raced in Germany 1971-72 by Curt Wetzel, Randy Wittine also did all the finish work on the L-88 flare.

Thanks I was led to believe it was five cars over their time period. The flares when you look at the other cars look different than the pic but will be the first to say I could be wrong and misled. Mine we put on a lip as it did not have one. The wheel are 18 inch and 335 in the rear vice the 15's which fill the wheel differently. In the book Corvette Racing Legends on page 204-209 and through out they look a lot bigger like what I have. and some of the cars did not have flares in the later parts of the book. But again if I misspoke about the number of cars 5 vis 3 ok.
Im no vintage racer expert but not to sound too pompous i know custom parts.
Pretty much all L88 flares were based on the bolt ons sold over the counter at GM it the day,
People have reworked these orginal l88 flares many ways, many started by glassing them into the fenders,
However, ive seen enough L88 flares to know what i see yours sit higher on the body and are in turn larger, like on this car, but also are a hair different then this car ( im talking about the rears )
I have a pair of aci gm l88 flares like the guy sells on ebay,
Not as big as the rears on your car or this car,
But i sure wish someone sold these bigger ones, everyone and their brother have the smaller ones....

Jeff Leach , MidAmerica Ind. who installed my flares made molds and he sells the ones I got. 309 787 5119. I concur with what you said some bigger some smaller I like mine. It would be interesting to see 15 inch tires in my wheel well then compare. Jeff could have adjusted them based on his experience, he has been doing this for many years.
For the sake of discussion here is where all the fuss started on my initial build. Quote:
Fair question about the flares. I am getting them from Jeff Freeman from "Form of Expressions" and he relayed the mold was taken from one of the Owens Corning "team" cars
He is in Carmichael Ca
Does a lot of vintage car rebuilds, Lotus's, McClarens etc.
Jeff Leech from Mid America Industries who is known for his GS builds speaks very highly of him... thats good enough for me
redvetracr we had this a while back when I first posted these.
I noticed your cars on ebay, someone will be thrilled with it.
I hope my flare questions were not misconstrued as trying to cause furor, not at all, actually even though im building my 69 to look old road racer i know very little about actual old racers and dont need to know, not really something im into, i just like the look, yes, im a big poser.
I asked about flares because yours are different and being a custom fan i like them more than the ones everyone else ( including myself ) has.
Its my understanding that redvetteracer owns an actual owens corning car so i would expect he would be both passinate about it and know the cars pretty well....

No issues here and respect those that are more knowledgeable than I. You can see my post above is where I was told about the molds. No issues here. Once you break away from stock then build it your way. Small original L88 flares did not do it for me. A lot of movement on the car in its first hrs on ebay.. I have one more build in me so we will see. Redvetteracr no issues here
