71 L48 crank. Strong or junk?
Well i know they arent junk - but i have a set of “0” rods and 7009p pistons and am lookong to turn my 71 L48 into a 70 Lt1 spec motor.
it wont aee track duty but will wind up from time to time as Im gonna daily drive it. Probably run the 30/30 cam rather than the Lt1.
with the L48 crank live? Or should I fond a forged piece?

Aaron,
Go get the forged crank. Not because you need it, but because you will always worry about the cast crank and wish you did get the forged one. I found a nice reground "1182" for $275 (with a lot of looking) and will use it to build the same engine you are building. The difference in money is pretty small in the overall cost of the project but you will sleep much better knowing the parts will not fly apart into an expensive oily mess.
Have the crank, SRP forged slugs and the Scat rods ready to take to the balancing shop next week. Here we go!
