Be aware that the parts books changed two or three times a year. Chevrolet often discontinued parts, superseded parts and changed part numbers, so a part for a 69 may still be in a 75 Catalog, but might not be in a 76 edition.
If you have a 72, the best edition for you would probably be a May or September 53-72 edition, if you have a 75, a September 75 book, may be best. The last year that GM updated the printed edition of 53-82 book, was 1983. The 53-82 books are the most complete, but a lot of parts for earlier years, had been discontinued or superseded by newer parts, by the time the 82 book came out. Ideally, you probably want a catalog from your year, and a 53-82 edition, so that you can identify changes in part numbers, and for the notes in the parts books about modifications needed to use superseded parts.
In my "library" I have 69, 70, 72, 75, 76, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, and 83 editions of the Corvette Parts and Illustration Catalog, as well as a 28-62 full line parts book, but my situation's a little different, since I use them for work.
