There's lots of threads out there with options and choices, but I'm a fan of the Borg Warner WC T5. Price is right, Internal shift rails have nice modern action, installation is straightforward, and the .63 overdrive 5th is a joy. They're only rated at 320 ft-lb, so no powershifting, but mine's been hanging tough for 13 years now.

I’m sorry, having some difficulty reading this. Is this what you are asking?
[Hey guys, I have a ‘75 Corvette with about 450 Hp and the original 3 speed trans. I want to put in a manual trans without hacking up the car. I’ve found kits, but they’re about 6K. What transmissions will fit and what will I need?
I know a bit about transmissions, but any help would be appreciated. ]
Carguy, there are several transmissions you can choose from. The Turbo Hydromatic TH400, (200R or the 700R desired for having an overdrive gear for the highway, I prefer the stronger 700R of the 3.
I’m not a transmission expert so let those guys chime in.

Here are my notes T56 Magnum in a 1978 corvette. Since the install I have changed to a twin disc clutch (Mcleod RST) and a ram light weight alum flywheel. It now feels like a C6 corvette transmission.
I did this conversion with a TKO 600 kit from SST - you are right, price was between $5 and $6K - not cheap, but it was a 100% complete kit with no time wasted scrounging for parts (and I like to scrounge) - if your time is worth anything, this is something to consider. It was a 2-weekend job for me once the kit arrived. The TKO 600 is overbuilt for your power level, but that's not a bad thing. Customer support over the phone was outstanding as well - When I had questions, their tech was very responsive and helpful.
